I get so many direct messages on Instagram with questions about products that I use while trying to conceive so I always try to do reviews for all of you because I want you to be as educated as possible when spending your hard earned money on a new product. I’ve wasted so much money in this journey but the good news is that you get to learn from my mistakes. If you are looking for a new fertility friendly lube, this is for you!
Raise your hand if you have heard of BabyDance!
First, can we talk about the name of this product? I specifically tried this product because of the name. It speaks for itself. Of course I did my research and read all of the reviews that I could and it seemed like a lot of couples used this product and got pregnant within a few months of using it. Sure, this isn’t a guarantee but it gives me hope and keeps me positive. In this community, we know what baby dancing is because we do it every cycle and we talk pretty openly about it with our #ttcSisters so I thought the name of this product was just too cute to pass up. If you are interested in learning more about this product and what my experience was using it for the first time this cycle, continue reading this blog post!
Let’s be honest, lubricants are a product that truly matter how they are packaged. I’ve seen them packaged in many ways and a lot of the times, the bottle gets gross and messy. I know that some of you understand exactly what I am saying. I call them “squeeze tubes” and it’s similar to toothpaste where the lid gets gross, crusty, sticky, etc.
Good news for those of you shaking your head in agreement with me that a lot of lubricant bottles are just terrible, I love the packaging of BabyDance because it’s already packaged as a single-use tube. That eliminates the mess of storing the tube for later.
You also have the option to make the single-use tube into a multi-use tube, if desired. The lid does screw on and off of the tube so it’s possible to use it multiple times. I really like that we are given the option to use as directed or desired when it comes to the packaging.
Included in the packaging of BabyDance are clear applicators that are used to insert the lubricant, again eliminated any mess and helps get the lubricant where you need it. What I really like about these applicators is that they are individually packaged so you can open just one at a time instead of multiple at a time.
INSTRUCTIONS/EASY TO USE
If you are anything like me, you read everything about a product before trying it out, including the directions. I don’t read it word for word because usually it has things like side effects, ingredients, etc and I don’t really care about all of that. But while trying to conceive, I pay attention to directions of products because it’s really important that I use the product as directed so I have the best chance of getting the outcome that I want. Inside of the packaging there is a small printout with the directions and it even has some graphics included, to show you how to use the product. Although I felt this product was really self-explanatory, I’m glad that I read the instructions because it shares information like how to get the lubricant in the applicator, how long you have until you shouldn’t use what’s in the applicator, what the lubricant should smell like, and so much more. It’s really informative.
SMELL OF PRODUCT
This may seem like a silly thing to include in a product review but hear me out, smells can really ruin the mood, right? So you want a product that doesn’t smell like alcohol swabs or petroleum jelly because they won’t really help you when you are trying to be intimate and create a life.
I’m not even joking, for once I actually agree with what a package states. If you read the insert that I listed above, they describe the smell as a “slight rose and sage odor” and I totally agree with that description! I smell a lot more rose than sage and I am not complaining. I appreciate that they made the product not smell like a medical product and more like a perfume lotion.
TEXTURE OF PRODUCT
Again with my descriptions of other lubricants, I am so picky about the texture. I don’t like when a lubricant feels too messy or sticky. Especially as a woman, we usually feel these effects more than our partner does. Although I have used this product sexually, it’s hard to really know the texture so as I am typing this review, I just put a little dab on my wrist and rubbed it on my skin so I could tell you what I thought of the texture on skin to skin.
It’s not sticky, which I consider a good thing. And when it dried on my skin, it didn’t make me feel irritated, itchy, sticky, or anything that I would consider a negative.
USING THE PRODUCT
We used this product during my fertile window during our last cycle and although we weren’t successful that cycle, I still plan to use it again in upcoming cycles. If you have read my blog before, you know that my husband’s semen analysis results weren't great. We are still waiting for our follow-up appointment so we can learn next steps, but I know that the sperm issue is why we didn’t get pregnant. We like to use fertility friendly lubricant because it’s just easier and with me having Endometriosis, sex can often be painful. Using a lubricant really helps that. One thing I really liked about BabyDance is that it felt really natural for both me and my husband. In the past we have used Pre-Seed and didn’t really like the product because of the texture. It felt very much like a lubricant and less like natural cervical mucus. I compared BabyDance to Pre-Seed and thought that there was honestly no comparison, I would much rather prefer BabyDance. Plus, I feel like I get a lot more for my money.
WOULD I BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN?
In case you couldn’t tell by this review, I really liked BabyDance. It’s now the third fertility friendly lubricant that I’ve tried and it’s now my go-to over the others. We will definitely be using it during our current cycle, number fourteen. Fingers crossed that it helps us get pregnant in the coming months! I also really like that it’s paraben free. Ever since I started acupuncture and was clinically diagnosed with Endometriosis, I’ve been really paying attention to what I put in and on my body. I stopped using certain lotions, shampoos, hair products, all because of some of the ingredients. Parabens are known to be used to preserve a product for months or years and it’s just scary to me to think that a chemical is used for that purpose. This is a product you are inserting in your body, so it matters what it’s made out of. I first trusted the product because it’s the first FDA approved paraben-free fertility friendly lubricant. (say that 10 times fast)
